Chantelle and Baby are back home.
Win2k3 transitioned to Win2k8 after some 'convincing'
We moved the whole server rack upstairs with almost 0 consequence.
All is well that ends well.
In an unrelated note i found out something sad that happened last year.
The passing of the inventor of instant ramen noodles ...
In January 2007, media the world over noted the passing, at age 96,
of Momofuku Ando, the inventor of instant ramen.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=93954544 has more on that.
Today is the 50th anniversary of the instant ramen noodles ... otherwise known to you as
soup in a cup or 'mr. noodles' So celebrate his invention, his life, and japans nation dish!
I plan on having spicy chicken noodle ramen when i go home for lunch.
So i'm upgrading our main server from 2003 to 2008 today. It's been tested in VM to every aspect i can think about.
I have an 18 hour window to have it WORKING. Then payroll starts .... no pressures mate! I have travel mugs off coffee
for the move I should be GTG! Updates later .... here goes everything!
After a failed webserver, failed quickbooks server, and a failed print server for 'no reason' I was about to go *snap*.
Near the end of the day I managed to fix all the issues. I even got my boss's laptop able to RDP into work and then
print off docs from work on his home computer. Anyhow, long store shore all is well. .... or is it!?
Next morning blackberry server is not behaving as it should. Oh joy. It receives emails on all black berries but cannot
send any emails. Users were getting the dreaded red X when sending out emails. For those of you who care why, read
the next paragraph.
When you reset the DC in a server environment the blackberry server becomes 'un-syncd' In order to bring back BB functionality
one must reset the blackberry server or the following services. The Blackberry Dispatcher, Router and Policy Service as well as
the Blackberry synchronization service. After these simple 3 / 4 steps your blackberry server will be sending and receiving again.
So, in short my brain won't be exploding today. It's my birthday!
Anyhow, it was mostly a good night everyone was drunk, with the exception of Chantelle.
I was drunk because it was partially my birthday party too.
I find it interesting that most people believe absinthe to be hallucinogenic. Perhaps some people were so off their rockers
(me last night) that they think they saw things. I swear i saw a bread crumb crawl! I looked it up and actual hallucinations
do not occur.
(from wikipedia)
However, the debate over whether absinthe produces effects on the human mind additional to those of alcohol has not been conclusively resolved. The effects of absinthe have been described by some artists as mind opening. The most commonly reported experience is a 'clear-headed' feeling of inebriation — a form of 'lucid drunkenness'. Some modern specialists, such as chemist, historian and absinthe distiller Ted Breaux, claim that alleged secondary effects of absinthe may be caused by the fact that some of the herbal compounds in the drink act as stimulants, while others act as sedatives, creating an overall lucid effect of awakening.
Long term effects of low absinthe consumption in humans remain unknown, although it is known that the herbs contained in absinthe have both painkilling and antiparasitic properties.

So that's your history lesson on absinthe.
What I learned today is that absinthe like many drinks doesn't mix all that well with tequila, I didn't get sick though.
However, my stomach is having harsh words with me today.
Belt loop missing
Chris my roomy spilled water all over the edge of my 75 dollar Paint X manual GRRRRR
No parking at work, park across street
Now I'm late
Oh look supervisor is back from vacation!
Trouble has sired more than its 3 today. So far I'm counting 5 and it's not even 9am yet.

How do I reserve any sort of patience I wonder some days.
Seriously, it's not the users that provoke my wraith usually.
It's the bloody servers! There is no reason or rhyme to them.
They just break randomly (or when I screw with things)
You can't yell at the bloody things, they don't understand or care
You can't beat them it'll do you no good nor the servers any good.
I can't wait till they have AI and I can actually get pissed off at them,
maybe get into a verbal argument.
That being said I'm having troubles with upgrading a sbs server from
2003 standard to 2008 standard. I think it's almost time for format C:\ /y
